Secret #67 – The Largest Lobbying Organization in the U.S. is The National Association of Realtors (NAR)
The National Association of Realtors (NAR) is one of the most powerful lobbying groups in the country, both in Washington D.C. and at the state and local levels.
NAR likes to brag that it is, “America’s largest trade association, representing 1.5 million members involved in all aspects of the residential and commercial real estate industries.”
The website OpenSecrets ranks NAR as the #1 largest lobbying organization in America, spending over $80 million on lobbying in the 2022 election cycle.
Here's another way to look at it.
Although smaller, the National Association of Home Builders and the Mortgage Bankers Association are also extremely influential lobbyists.
I don’t have all the details on everything NAR has accomplished, but there’s a very good possibility that their advocacy has helped you or someone you know become a homeowner. The greatest wealth builder in the United States. Simply stating they’re the largest is not stating much.
Is NAR even a good advocate for realtors or is it just a monopoly supporting monopolies?
